Energy Assistance Available

To apply for Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance (WHEAP), contact Energy Services Inc. in Dodge County at 887-7925, or in Fond du Lac County at 929-3445. You may apply once per year between October 1 and May 15. Special assistance is available to those who are unable to apply in person. The following programs are available:

Heating Assistance

Energy plays a vital role in our lives, but unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pay for it. As temperatures start to drop, we encourage our income-qualified customers to apply for energy assistance. You could receive a financial grant to help pay your heating bills. The amount you receive depends on your family’s size, income and the amount of your heating bills. The State of Wisconsin makes a payment directly to your heat provider.

Bill Payment Assistance

If you are approved for energy assistance through WHEAP, you will automatically be approved for Waupun Utilities’ Customer Credit Program without having to complete any additional paperwork. Once you are approved, you will receive notification in the mail prior to the credit being applied to your electric account. The written notification will state the amount of the grant that you have been approved to receive from Waupun Utilities and it will also let you know when you can expect to see this amount appear as a credit on your electric bill.

Weatherization Assistance

The State of Wisconsin provides free weatherization services to reduce household energy costs and to save energy. If you are eligible, an energy auditor will inspect your home to determine what can be done to make it more energy efficient. The measures vary depending on your home’s age and condition. Some common measures include insulation, furnace, air conditioner, water heater or window installation.

You may qualify for these services if your gross household income falls within the following guidelines:

Family Size3-Month Income

For each additional person add: $1,222.50
